Event History

The 12-80km Race was initiated by Marc-André Déry, father-in-law of one of the residents of the first Maison Véro & Louis. Sensitized to the cause of autism when he met Alexandre Robert, a young man with autism, he quickly saw the benefits of his integration at the Maison de Varennes. Passionate about running, and wanting other parents to benefit from this opportunity, he set himself the challenge of running 80 km in 12 hours to raise funds for the Foundation! By accomplishing this feat 4 times, he raised $40,000 for the cause of autism.

In 2024, the Foundation team decided to breathe new life into the event. The first edition was a success! Nearly 350 runners took part, raising a collective total of over $127,000. This success confirmed the desire to make this event the Foundation's signature social fundraising campaign and the entire team is mobilizing to organize the 2nd edition, to be held on May 31, 2025.
