Mission and traumatic brain injury
Mission of the Martin-Matte Foundation:
The Martin-Matte Foundation helps provide a better quality of life for children and adults living with head trauma or physical disabilities.
What is head trauma?
A head injury, or traumatic brain injury (TBI), is a shock that shakes the brain in the skull or an injury to the head that damages neurons, causing brain dysfunction. Depending on where the lesions are located on the brain, the after-effects can be extremely varied, ranging from mood swings to paralysis. In fact, there are as many aftereffects as there are brains! And that makes TBI all the more difficult to manage on a daily basis.
The Foundation is very proud of everything it has accomplished since its creation in 2007.
